Safety Tips for Faxi Users
If you’re new to carpooling with Faxi, don’t worry – we’ve prepared a list of safety tips you can use until you get the hang of things!
Communicate via Faxi
Use our in-app messaging system to arrange for carpools to avoid sharing your number with new acquaintances. Keep track of all communications in the app itself for better convenience.
Utilize the pick-up location option
Set your pick-up location to a nearby bus stop or train station if you’re uncomfortable sharing your address. Not everyone you carpool with needs to know where you live; remember – you set the rules.
Choose your fellow carpoolers
Remember you can decline carpool requests if you so desire. If you’re uncomfortable sharing with someone or you simply don’t think you’re the right match, feel free to decline their carpooling request.
Meet up before carpooling
Arrange for a coffee with your fellow carpoolers before your first journey & avoid awkward small-talk on your morning commute. This is a great way to get to know each other better, as well!
Run checks for your peace of mind
If this is your first time carpooling, it’s completely understandable that you want to be as safe as possible. Don’t be afraid of asking the driver for their vehicle registration details in order to carry out any checks in the DVLA database.
Get into the right vehicle
It may sound silly, but cases of mistaken vehicle identity can happen. So, to avoid misunderstandings, ensure you’re entering the right vehicle. This is made easy if you’ve already met the driver or have their number plate (registration number).
Share your carpooling plans
Not only will sharing your carpooling plans be a great way of getting more fellow carpoolers on board, but it will also help ease your nerves a bit – particularly if you’re new to the carpooling lifestyle.
Wear a seatbelt
It goes without saying that you should wear a seatbelt while travelling. However, we’re still saying it – always wear one, as it is mandatory for a reason.
Don’t use your phone while driving
While this is another seemingly obvious tip, it bears repeating: If you’re the driver, don’t check your Faxi app whilst driving (or any other app, for that matter). Focus on getting to your destination safely, your phone will still be there when you arrive.
While you’ll be carpooling with colleagues from your organisation, it never hurts to take some extra precautions, especially if you’re new to the platform.
